From the shadowy Bohult cellar we present the
definitive masterwork from the Nordic giant of modern dark ambient
music, HENRIK NORDVARGR BJÖRKK!
Driven by obsessive ideas and an uncontrollable will of producing
quality ambience, he's the man of many projects - MZ.412,
Folkstorm, Toroidh, not to mention the successful
recent collaboration with Masami Akita (aka Merzbow)
-, but it's under his given name and very own grim fashion that
Mr. Björkk delivers the most suffocating music around.
Carefully registered at night over a long period of time, the
sounds used on Vitagen hail from a vast collection
of strange sources - an old oiltank, axe, ESP, broken electronic
equipments and slabs of concrete, to name a few. However, what
makes his work even more intriguing is the amazing ability to
concentrate in a deep black hole of sound elements of glitchy,
cold elektronika amidst haunted and blackened minimalist atmospheres,
building a foundation that permits himself to experiment with
more rhythmic movements, slowly build and detailed drones, distant
rumbles and disembodied voices. With this undisputable trademark,
Nordvargr has managed to capture the spirit of bleakness like
no other artist. The different shades of black and grey he paints
with have never been more disturbing and at the same time more
beautiful.
Initially scheduled for a double CD release, the decision was
made by the artist to distill the work into one solid masterpiece
due to the complexity of the material. He was right. Vitagen
is a step further on his career and a real lesson on how dark
ambient music can be challenging and innovative if produced
by someone who really knows the right tricks.
Always commited in delivering the best sound and presentation,
Essence Music invited the talent of Peter Andersson for
the mastering and presents Vitagen housed in a
custom 6-panel digisleeve packaging.
